Arkansas Alligator Hunting

Arkansas Alligator Season 2010This big guy was just sent over to me and I thought all of you would like to take a look at one of the finest Arkansas alligator specimens you’ll ever lay eyes on.

At 13 feet, 1 ¼ inches and 680 lbs., this behemoth was caught on private land near Arkansas Post in Arkansas County on 09/19/10.

Arkansas gator hunting has taken off in recent years. This year, there will be 47 permits issued for the fall 2010 alligator season. Thirty-six of these permits will be available through the public drawing process.

Hey folks, an old duck hunting buddy sent this article to me. My how things are changing. I remember hunting Dewitt, Almyra, and Stuttgart from about ’94 through ’02 with Goose Busters and man we hammered ‘em. I thought I was the baddest creature at the top of the food chain, but this thing is scary huge. We all know that gators in Arkansas is not a natural thing, so why only a set number of permits? The more these things hang around the more comfortable they will become with the world’s greatest waterfowl spot. I say cut ‘em all and if you need a country boy who has followed the money to the big city to lend a hand, just send me an email and I’ll round up a gator posse. Late. -Whit
