Mobile Waterfowl Migration Map from Delta Waterfowl

November 19th, 2010

Well the time has come for those that waited. The mobile waterfowl migration map is now available in iTunes. Search for WhereTheDuck, Delta Waterfowl, or click this iTunes link. Arkansas Duck Hunting

The Delta Waterfowl mobile migration map is cutting-edge technology to help the Arkansas duck hunting enthusiast get a better grasp on how the ducks are moving. This duck hunting iPhone app has two types of waterfowl migration map reports—trusted reports from guides and outfitters, and user-submitted reports.

The trusted reports are from pro staffers with Buck Gardner, Final Approach, Tanglefree, and of course, Arkansas Outdoors Online. The user-submitted reports are from the end users that purchase the iPhone app and submit their own report.

You will need an account to publish your own report, so take a few seconds to register for your username and password.  The app is excellent source of information, and a definite resource for duck hunters to stay up-to-date on the latest migration patterns.

Future plans for the app will make it even more valuable and increase the price, so get it while you can at $1.99.

Arkansas Duck Season 2010-2011 Outlook

November 8th, 2010

With the temperatures up north still getting into the 50s and 60s during the day, the overall warmth of in-state temperatures right now,and the total lack of water around the state, the Arkansas duck season outlook isn’t looking too good right now. However this year we will still have our Arkansas duck hunting report map, the Mallard Tracking Map (when it comes back up) and some brand new tools to help you out when the ducks do arrive, such as the new and very detailed Arkansas water levels map, and some other very exciting tools we can not announce just yet.

The forecast up north is showing a cold front pushing down sometime mid-week during next week. We have a couple days of forecasted rain, and some ducks and geese are already in the area.

All hope for a good opening morning of Arkansas Ducks season isn’t lost just yet. With loads of tips and tricks already published and more on the way, as well as the Arkansas duck season photo contest, and some random give aways curiosity of our good friends at Tanglefree, my favorite hunting season of the year  is destined to be a good one yet again in 2010.

So come on in to the Arkansas duck hunting forum and discuss your outlooks, discover hunting  tips, and view some user-submitted migration reports.

8 tips for Arkansas Teal Season 2010

August 26th, 2010

This article is from 2008, we thought we would bring it back up for it’s extremely helpful tips and some added links.Arkansas Teal Hunting is Popular, however you need to prepare

Lets face it, all Arkansas duck hunters have an addiction that has anything to do with duck hunting in Arkansas. However, only the diehards — or the dumbest — Arkansas duck hunters will  partake in the 2010 Arkansas teal season.

There are a few bad things about Arkansas teal hunting. It’s HOT; snakes are prevalent; and the addiction is only multiplied when that first limit of Arkansas teal fall from the sky and arrive on the table  –preferably stuffed with a jalapeno and wrapped in bacon.

A great write-up in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette details Arkansas teal hunting and offers a nice little how-to guide as well. You can check it out in the Arkansas Duck Hunting Forum.

10 Tips for Early Arkansas Goose Season

August 23rd, 2010

Hunting Arkansas Resident CanadasThe resident Arkansas Canada Goose population has exploded over the past few years. In response, the AGFC has created an Early Canada Goose Season which kicks off on September 1st and runs through goes to September 15th. The bag limit is five.

This early goose season is often overlooked because people think these are park or pet geese. But rest-assured, the resident geese are not stupid birds, they know the lay of the land. These 10 tips for Early Arkansas Goose Season will help you overcome the advantage they have on you and help you bag more birds.

  1. When looking for geese, scout in the evening. These geese like to feed in the evening so likely roosting there or close will make a morning  hunt more successful.
  2. These geese eat alot of different grains and grass seed besides the normal crops, so don’t get discouraged if you can’t find a fresh corn field close by.
  3. Once you have found them, check out the highest point in the field. Geese will lite on the biggest hump, hill, or mound, then the’lly tend to walk around grazing, so set up  your decoys in groups around that point — but not on the point.
  4. Unlike during the fall when the migrators come down, these residents tend to work better with smaller groups of decoys, so a couple dozen or less will get the job done.

Arkansas Duck Season 2010 News

July 26th, 2010

As many of you may know the AGFC has three different season dates proposed for the 2010-2011 Arkansas duck season, which seems to be the norm around this time of year now. The normal date (option 1) is the weekend before Thanksgiving and is my bet for the opener.

The first option for duck season dates in Arkansas is the more traditional. The dates allow everyone to have that traditional Thanksgiving hunt withFlooded Timber Ducks in Arkansas the family and friends, then a break for a week. The 2nd opener is proposed for Dec 9th, which is about like last year and goes until Dec. 23rd. I like that 2nd season the most; it allows us to spend time with our families for Christmas Eve and on the 26th we start back up for that last leg  until the end of the season on Jan 30th. Find a break down of the rest of the dates over in the Arkansas Duck Hunting Forum. If you can’t wait, check out our countdown to a couple Arkansas Hunting Season Dates

In other Arkansas duck season news, hunters will be able to go out to Big Lake, St. Francis Sunken Lands and Dave Donaldson Black River WMAs from Aug. 6 through Aug. 22, to repair and maintain public duck blinds, waterfowl hunting holes and boat lanes. While there are no public duck blinds  on Dave Donaldson WMA, the holes may be maintained during the daylight hours only.
