Not sure how I missed this post. A little old but I will answer. Definitely up around Gene Rush/Buffalo River Wildlife Management Area, and the areas of Ponca and Jasper. Late September and early October seem to be the best time to take your camera and go out.

this is an old post, but Kevin is right, Boxley is the best. I've seen large herd of elk with large bulls in the fields, last time it was snowing, it was awsome.

I know another place in Oklahoma. The Nature Conservancy has 15000 acres that boarders a large game lease I used to manage near Talequaha (spelling?) They reintroduced elk there several years ago, they are free ranging and pretty tame. Let me know if you would like more info.

We always go to Boxley Valley by ponca to watch the Elk and take pictures and at Gene Rush in Sept when they start getting into the rut.
