I went on a hog hunt the last weekend of April and I'm finally getting around to posting the results. I went with a couple of buddies to Wild Hog Ranch just outside of Monroe La. www.lahoghunting.com   Some might consider this a "canned" hunt and frown upon it, but since it was my first time going after pigs I figured I'd go with a guided deal. The owner and his staff were very friendly and personable and I had a wonderful time.
I managed to get this 85 lb boar using my .357 Marlin. I shot him at a distance of 30 yards with a cast 158 gr bullet that I loaded over 13.5 gr of AA #9. The shot went in just behind the ear, breaking his neck, taking out the lungs, and exiting in front of the rear leg. Bang, flop. Not very big I know, but damned good eating. headbang

We went through Amity a couple of weeks ago on our way to Glenwood.  We went to float the Caddo.  More like a 2 mile hike while dragging a canoe.  But yeah, Amity is on the map but pretty small from what I remember.
