Where can I find current central and south Arkansas fishing reports besides the paper or calling the docks?  I'm not a very good/patient fisherman which translates into few fish being brought home.  I could use some help.  Suggestions?

You can sign up for the weekly fishing report on the AGFC website. It comes out every Wednesday via e-mail. If you are in the mood for fishing right now... I will give you a hot spot. Go to Beaverfork Lake in Conway. At the west end of the lake is Highway 25. On the west side of the highway is a little pocket of water that is full of crappie. It gets a little crowded there, but there are enough fish for everyone. In the past two weeks I haven't been there without running out of minnows. The crappie are all small, but edible. If you look at it on google earth you will see a faint orange line. Those are bobbers on the power line over the hole. You can't see the powerline except for the bobbers. Good luck. Get'em while they're there.

Lake Conway also offers awesome crappie fishing this time of year.

Thanks!  My daughter lives in Vilonia.  Guess I'll have to pick up the grandson for a trip.  Wink

I have two other extremely hot white bass run spots that I will post on here if I catch them right. Hit that Beaverfork spot as soon as you can. There are probably 200 to 500 fish being taken out of the hole every day. Once the water hits about 60 degrees they will leave.

I got a tip yesterday that Lake Valencia was to be stocked with catfish either yesterday or today. If it is true it will be on fire for a few days. Make sure and take your kids. I think the limit is 3, but check the regs before you go. Last year I got the same tip and went the next day. I caught 50 in an hour and a half. Make sure you don't keep over your limit because I was also informed that it will be heavily watched by the game warden. The fish are grain fed until they reach the lake so they are generally on-flavor for a bit.

I called the game and fish one time asking them for the best catfish spots in Central Arkansas and they said Lake Valencia. I didn't end up going but sounds like I should have.

There aren't any. I run a 50hp. I see people running 200's. The trails for the most part are very well marked, but it is an illusion. I have hit some stumps in the middle of the marked trails although they are rare. Be careful. I would either try the pool at Wilhelmena Cove for white bass and crappie or Kaney Creek for crappie, or Pierce creek for redear. Bass fishing is good just about everywhere.

I don't think I have ever been to lake Conway and not whacked a stump. It's a good lake but man there are stumps sticking up everywhere.

The bream are starting to bite good on Lake Conway. Caught about 20 yesterday evening in about an hour and a half. Half were bluegills half were redears. The redears were all about to pop with eggs. All were caught in 12" to 4 feet of water. I had the best luck within 10 feet of the bank on the bottom.

Has anyone been fishing the Little Red River south of Pangburn? I am taking my dad and little brother there this weekend and want to know what flies the trout are biting and if anyone has been catching Kentucky bass.

I heard the Little Red is fishing awesome right now.

I always fish on the Heber side of Pangburn, but I think they are only running one generator at the dam so you should be able to fish all day. Of course that is as of yesterday, but I think it is supposed to remain that way.

For trout, I looked at the hatch chart earlier this week and they said BWO's (blue winged olives) are hatching. Midges, red ass (always a favorite for me on this river) copper johns, and if they are rising to dry flies, try an elk hair caddis.

If you're going to be fly fishing try some big streamers for bass. If you are spin fishing, some powerworms would work I bet.

The Little Red was okay on Saturday. We caught 22 trout and a pickerel. We mainly used rooster tails and rapala countdowns. I probably had 50 hits on a green with gold spinner rooster tail. They were biting soft and I should have used one with a bigger hook. The fly fishermen were doing very well. I saw one lady pull in a 21" brown on a fly.
