I agree. It is all what one bowhunter prefer. Main thing is shot placement and sharp broadheads. By the way I shoot a PSE. Roll Eyes

hoyt alpha-tec, trophy ridge sites, love it. used to shoot a pse when i started, very basic model and it taught me alot.
i agree that the driver is more important than the car . . . . but you can't win in nascar in a volkswagen. buy the best bow you can afford and enjoy it till it exlodes. guys that shoot 4 or 5 bows at the 3d range really annoy me. get real and get real good with one bow (weapon) and have fun, stop trying to impress your friends.

When I was 16, I walked into a wal-mart and had $200.  I looked at all their bows and ended up purchasing a Golden Eagle Talon for $160.  I had money left over for a stabilizer and sights.  I just turned 30.  I have shot that bow every single season (14 years) since I was 16.  I have never missed a deer with it.  I feel comfortably to 35 yards.  Don't really hunt in an area that has a further shot than that, so I've never practiced for further.  I bet if I told my story to Matthews or Hoyt, they would give me a bow just to keep my mouth shut.

My dad has a North American Hunters dunlop.  Yes that's right.  I believe it is a Dunlop.  It is 30 years old.  I believe I could kill a deer with it just as easily.

Seems like out of all the broadheads out there Rage seems to always be the hunters pick. Guess I need to break down and by some if they are that good.

I shoot a Mathews Switchback XT. I love my bow and if you love yours, then we are both happy. Actually, I am shooting Mathews Switchback XT, Beman arrows with quickspin fletching, alpine quiver, shuttle t lock broadheads, toxonics sights, pro series ultra rest, limbsaver stablizer, scott shark release and nikkon archers choice rangefinder. I use the grim reaper broadhead for turkey.

Hoyt Ultra Tech at 65lbs. GoldTip 55/75's 28-5/8" lg. Rocket Sidewinder three blade mechanical at 100 grs. Fusion 2" vanes. Bow chronographed at 289 fps. I've had this bow five years now, I really enjoy the smooth draw the cam and a half system offers. I work at Mack's in Stuttgart part time in the archery dept. and thought I'd try out one of the new Mathews Z7's. I set it up identical to my Hoyt and used my arrow, it also chronographed at 289 fps., then on several successive shots it chronoed in at 292 fps., took me a few shots to get the feel of the Mathews. My advice, for what it's worth, as long as you stay with the top brands, Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtcech, Bear, PSE, etc. you can't go wrong. They all make top quality equipment. Purchase the best you can afford. Arrows; purchase the top grade of whatever brand you select. All arrow manufactures produce several grades, buy the top grade. I personally prefer GoldTip and choose the Pro's for hunting. They maintain a straightness tolerance of +/- .001" and a weight tolerance of +/- .5 grain over an entire dozen arrows. It all boils down to personal preference and what works for you.
