Now that you guys were out in the woods for a weekend, what does the acorn crop look like? As many as you expected or fewer? Seems like most people are saying they are pretty abundant this year.

I haven't noticed a shortage of acorns this year.  Oddly enough, the deer seem to be hitting the corn pretty early this year as well.

I know what you mean about the corn. The deer were standing there waiting on my feeder to go off. The doe I killed was full of acorns though.

In Garland county the crop is not great they are small and not falling good with the wind this weekend they should have been raining down.

I saw quite a few on Saturday and Sunday, with my binos...in the tree tops.  I hear they are beginning to drop today... probably be done dropping by Muzzleload season...is my guess.

I think there has been more rain in the northern counties of Arkansas this year and that is why the acorn crop is a little better up in that area i hunt in Garland county around Lonsdale and i can tell you the crop is not what it was last year not as many and they are not as big but we did have a bumper crop last year and your not going to get that every year. I can say this if you can find a good tree droping lots of acorns set up on it i seen 2 bucks last weekend  bow hunting and thats what they were doing they walked right by my corn feeder and were picking up acorns here and there.

It looks like the deer are trying to put on some weight. I have been feeding rice bran and corn and sometimes if I put out enough rice bran they won't eat the corn. The fact that they have been picking my feeding sites clean daily may be an indicator of an acorn shortage where I hunt. In five years they have never been so avid about eating from my bait sites in October. I put out about 20 lbs of corn and 20 lbs of rice bran yesterday just before dark. I went and checked on it at 11 AM today and it was completely gone. Not a single kernel of corn and no rice bran.

From the looks of my yard, there will be plenty of acorns.  The size has increased in the past month as well.

I kinda had a feeling this wouldn't be a great year, but from what I've read on here and in the rut reports, looks like everybody needs to be hunting the holler' (in most places).

Do you guys prefer high-yield seasons or not? Kinda like it when there aren't as many acorns myself because the deer are out and about more and can't stay hunkered down all the time.
