Anybody here hunt from box stands? No offense to any of you that do, but I never have and never will. I just don't like them. Guess I just always picture guys in there cooking up bacon and eggs and watching the game. Feel like if you are hunting you need to be sitting on the ground or up in a tree.

I've hunted out of a homemade wooden box blind that was on the ground. It offered a visibility of only 180° and it wasn't very spacious with two people sitting in it. Needless to say, it wasn't an enjoyable hunt.
I wouldn't be opposed to hunting out of a professionally manufactured box stand, but I don't think I would ever buy one.

Same here. Not a big fan. When I think of them, I always think of the guys up north or hunters down in Texas. Always what they use on the hunting shows and there just isn't much to it.

i hunt from a lot of box stands they are great on a logging road with good visibility not to mention that when its raining cats and dogs you can stay nice and dry and they keep the wind off of you sent problems are no more than a 12 ft ladder stand and if you put tree limbs around and on top of them they blend in with the rest of the woods and have you ever heard of anybody getting killed by falling out of a box blind it has some good points.

Also think of texas when i think of box stands they have to use them down there becuase there aren't any trees!!! can't build a stand in a sage bush!!
i love building my own stands, whether ladder stands or make my version of a hunting tree house way up. it's an art that has been lost i think over the years with big box stores selling their ol so comfortable "mansion stands" i call em. nothing i like more than getting the 2x4's in august and september and whipping a 12 or 14 ft ladder stand together.

Hunting out of box stands is not my preferred method, but I do like to do it. If it is raining or really cold and windy it is the only place to hunt from (legally). The ones we use are not that luxurious, mainly just sides to block the wind and a roof to block the sun and precipitation. Sitting on a high line with a good friend and a cooler all day is a blast though.

I sure agree with the bad weather part of using box stands. Depending on the situation and location, I've hunted out of box stands; ladder stands; climbers; slipping along on the ground; and even a milk carton and cushion at times. I'ved hunted mostly in Texas; LA; & AR and at different times hunted on deer club leases; public ground; and private grounds. There are a lot of variables to deer hunting all of which can influence how and why you hunt the way you hunt. Probably the most challenging for me is hunting on public lands, usually with a climber or on the ground.

They're good for keeping a young'un safe and secure even when I doze off a little. Also a project dads and kids do together while talking about that big one that might walk out.

We have a box stand on the farm thats on wheels u can hook to the 4 wheeler. We built it for my dad who has had 8 back surgerys and is disabled and not able to climb a tree any more. I like to sit in there with him but I prefer my lock ons and climbers. All i do is bowhunt for deer have been since i was 13 when i killed my first deer with a bow been hooked eversince. I have tried to shoot a bow out of a box stand its just not the same. I do hunt out of a double bull blind some when i cant find a good tree in an area.

If I had a place to hunt that a permanent stand made since I would hunt from one. I like hunting all kind of ways, I can tell you if I ever do build one it will be cushy!

I have never hunted out of a box blind'I have always scouted out a spot and found a nice rock under a tree.In the late season I have made a brush blind just to get out of the wind and rain.
