hello,
moved to Arkansas 3 months ago, been visiting family for 16 years every Christmas or Thanksgiving. thought it was time to leave las vegas and get my family where people are great and families matter.
i have been hunting in camp robinson most of those years and have had mild success, by the time i got used to the woods again . . . . it was time to leave! bow, rifle, muzzle or shotgun . . . i am in!
would like some help/in-put/tips/help/buddy . . . did i mention help? with hunting at camp please, no one in the family hunts or fishes (can you imagine?) so i am totally on my own, every deer camp i have heard of is full or not welcome, i am not a trophy hunter by any means, if i happen upon a bruiser . . . i will take him, but my goal is to get meat and have an awesome time.

if you are willing to share some tips on camp robinson as to where to go and such, please let me know, it seems there are plenty of deer for everyone there, just hate to go alone all the time and stumble around.
i do appreciate any guidance and thank you for your time.

Camp Robinson gets pretty dang crowded, but there are a lot of deer there. They really hit the acorns (they have to since there are no crops) so if you can find a good hole back deep somewhere, you're chances are pretty good to score a decent buck. Thee are only a few days of gun season there, the rest is bow season, but I guess you know that since you've been hunting it.

I would take buckaroo up on his map offer he posted in your other topic. Sounds like he's hunted it more than I have so he probably knows more honey-holes.

Are you in Little Rock/Conway? Public hunting is quite the premium in Central Arkansas, that's for sure.

thanks for the intel, i am in north little rock, very near camp robinson.
that really is the only place i have deer hunted, went 1 time with a neighbor of my inlaws a few years ago, to his camp, couldn't tell you where it is, and the hunting sucked. 12 guys stomping around in the rain, rifle hunting . . . to me it was more like 'group therapy!'
none of them where into scent control or doing anything extra to get a deer or even see a deer. one would have to run up to them, put the muzzle to it's own chest and pull the trigger! is this typical of deer camps? what a joke this one was.

thanks again,
nick

You can get into some really good camps ... or some really crappy ones.

You could also try Bells Slough. Kinda crowded but it would give you another option right down the road. Some good looking land back in there.

Another option for you would to see if Deltik Timber has any leases left. Doubt you would get one this year, but maybe next year. You can get some right around Little Rock. Usually about $3 or $4 an acre.
