Is anybody going out for the three day Christmas hunt? I will have one morning to hunt on Sunday before I fly back.

I have some land that has not been hunted at all this year, a couple hundred acres with several stands, but haven't had any reports of big bucks being seen out there either.

Not sure which stand I will go for. May just go back into the thickest woods I can find and hunker up.

The Christmas hunt is a perfect excuse to get away from visiting relatives. icon_biggrin

I have a feeder out that has been running year round. No one has hunted the property for weeks and I have a herd of deer showing up at 7 every morning. I am taking my wife and kids and we are going to try and take a couple does.

Well I may or may not be making it in for the Christmas hunt ... or Christmas at all.

We were supposed to get an inch of snow last night and I woke up to 8. It hasn't stopped snowing all day and now we are at least at a foot. My flight isn't until tomorrow evening but I'm getting nervous. It's supposed to quit some time this afternoon but then again, we were supposed to get ONE INCH!!!!

That sucks, I will be on the stand Sunday and Monday. I think I know all the bucks on my land but you never know, maybe big daddy has stayed hidden all season and he is coming out for christmas dinner! icon_santa

I think I'll get a hunt in Sunday before it's back to work for me. I'll pretty much have the lease to myself with several stands to choose from =)

Curious, this time of year the 2nd rut is slacking off (in Kentucky anyway) so what's my best bet? Travel corridors or feeding areas? I have put meat on the ground already so I'm strictly horn hunting. I'll be out there all day since it's just 1 day, so I was thinking travel corridors? Or screw a stand and spot and stalk? That's always fun...........

If the 2nd rut is slacking off in your area, the bucks are going to only be doing two things: sleeping and eating. Sit on a travel corridor between feeding/bedding, or just hunt in the feeding area hard. If it were me, I would find the thickest of the thick close to a food source and hunker down in it.

When I was in Kentucky last weekend, it was cold and no real food source for the deer. I saw several deer in the afternoon just wondering around. I started seeing deer about 3:15 pm and walked out with deer still standing in the field.

I'm with Kevin, hunker down near feeding area, hold tight and see what happens. I do know this, over 50% of the deer killed in America are killed in the woods, not in the livingroom. Good Luck!

It's a possibility. What area are you looking at? This is in north central Arkansas.

Well, I live Northeast Arkansas but I am looking for anything within a few hours drive of Jonesboro. I really just need a place for me and my brother and nephew. Willing to help with keeping up the land and signing any kind of paper work if your worried about liability part of it or just whatever arises. Just let me know where located and anything else that you may want to know. Gone out of town for next 3 days  walk but, will check back with ya. Thanks. icon_biggrin Arky i will keep ya in mind!
