The deer behavior in my area has changed. I'm not seeing shooter bucks on camera, the time does come thru is different too. I'm not seeing the twin spike's terrorize the doe harem anymore. Is it the full moon, warm weather, the effect of the rut, deer moved to a new food source? Or what? Are any of you experiencing anything like this?

In my experience from my trail cam and deer hunting for many years I have noticed deer tend to move later in the day or after dark with a full moon and when there is a warmer temperature change and we have experienced both in Yell County this weekend so it doesnt surprise me that the deer are acting crazy especial with the rut and people shooting at them the second they stick their head out of the woods.

I agree the deer patterns have dramatically changed, due to the warm weather, blue moon and the shooting rampage in the woods.
The temperatures are fixing to drop this week and next week to the lowest points yet during the rut, and you can bet there will be large bucks roaming in search of does in estrous. I was in the woods alot last week, and I saw more fresh scrapes and rubs in the Northwest Arkansas area than I have seen since the season began this year. So, this leads me to believe there will be an incredible increase in deer activity over the course of the next week and a half starting tomorrow and on into late next week.
Lets bag 'em and tag 'em..............

Last year I remember the bucks were chasing the last week of oct. This year I havnt heard any grunts or seen any rubs. The buck i got was making a rub somewhere on the 15 of nov. It seems to me the rut is off by a couple of weeks. Im still getting bucks on cam like 5 to 7 points. I have noticed alot more does showing up on cam also. The deer are acting strange for sure  Huh?  Huh?  Huh?

Hey Derrick, thanks for joining up!

Glad we have a rattling expert on board. What strategies do you use and how does it change from the beginning of the season through the peak of the rut? Also, do you rattle post-rut as well?

Yea, I want to know about rattling, I am old school, the sit and be quiet kind of guy. I will grunt to get a deers attention, or to try to make him change direction, but I don't rattle. If it works as well as some say I would love to put it in my bag of tricks. So, Derrick, any insight, and pictures you can give would be great.

Sorry for my Late reply guys.....Im also the lead singer of the Band Fallen Within been really busy with band Stuff and my 3 kids....Im located in Walnut Ridge......i hunt alot around here on private land but do all my gun hunting up around smithville and lynn.....I usually take a trip down south on Casey Jones Wma,And Seven Devils Swamp Wma Down in drew county once a year..........

Well i did alot of Research with Bob Ramsey(Rattling goo Roo R.I.P) but my technics change with the Season. Most people i help or see Rattle take it all the wrong way thinking bucks are not necessarily stupid but dont pay attention or something...I rattle Pre-rut even in the begining of the year when deer are just feeding A few reasons why. Most bucks in the begining of the year run in pacts we all know this well the hardcore hunters but no one puts into play that bucks spar just like we like to hit each other wrestle around Ect.

And early season i lightly bang them around not hard nothing like a real fight just some simple bang and push and and do it in about 30 to 40 sec spots then stop for a few minutes do it again.....Most bucks even in early season know there herd so if they think some new bucks are moving in there going to check it out...Pre-rut i get a little more aggresive but i do more moch Scrapes and stuff in Pre-rut make them think of these new bucks are really taking over but still more of a fight type rattle but i have notice if you over rattle here you can really mess up but here i do more just horns hard pushes and Grunting alot in between.........

i do moch Scrapes way diffrent and ill bring that up some other time lol.......but RUT is were the fun begins and you want to Rattle Right at the begining of rut when there really mad and wanting to fight wanting to get to the girl first.....I change my style alot here Now you want to make as much noise as possable i mean Bushes Rattling hitting the horns as loud as you possably can and i think most people here are still worrying about oh well i cant be seen so if i move or make to much noise ill mess up well i get in a brush top make sure theres nothing blocking your down wind view and make sure to use alot of cover scent but i will beat bushes the leaves on the ground deer are very athletic and a fight most of the time determines whos stronger think about it are they worried about the bush they hit or the noise there making nope so why should you beat the ground hit the horns hard make a crap ton of noise...

but heres my Exact strategy i Rattle spacing the hits out but alot of noise on the ground for about 90 to 100 seconds stop then for about 5 minutes now next time i rattle i do it alot softer because you want the buck to think the fights still on and its moved a bit further away so hes going to come in stronger now And grunt alot..If you got a Roar use the snort and wheeze..But it usually will take a mature buck around 15 to 20 minutes to move in becuase he will 90% of the time Circle you so if you see the little bucks let them go that big buck isnt going to think anything but he got ran off not that he seen something he wasnt suppose to...But if you dont see anything for about 20 or 30 minutes or so i usually will move locations i will go over a hilltop or find another draw and do it all over again dont be affraid to rattle in the mid day hours also...If you got some friends get them to come out and spot for you..out of my research i have figured out that if a rattler brings in ten bucks he will see 2 of them so spotters can keep in touch and let you know whats coming in...

I hope this helps out these are just things that work for me Everyone might not have as much success with it......And another pointer if a buck comes in and runs off and its the Shooter dont be affraid to get out of your stand and sneak after him whats the Worst you can do Fail you might even get close enough to bag him Smiley its his territory hes not leaving it cause a human scared him :

weeeeeee that was alot sorry for such a big reply and typos never was good at English

thanks derrick. That sounds like fun. Use real horns? Might be a good way to hunt an area that is unfamilar or just trying to "make something happen". I wonder if you could get a nocturnal buck to get out of bed in the daytime? ummm

Great info Derrick. I agree with all of that. Have had some success doing everything you mentioned. Especially like your point about rattling softer after a hard round. Good advice.

Most of the deer in my area have changed you are not seeing the big bucks on camera, with the full moon you know they are feeding at night most  encounters i have had have been at the  last light of day i am starting to believe you can not hunt from a ladder stand anymore because the big ones know it means danger i had a nice 8 pt come within 10 yards but i moved my head 2 inches and he blew out like he was shot out of a cannon and one right at just before daylight i think he was headed back to his bedding area i believe we have a good crop of bucks for next year i have seen more spikes and nubbin heads in the last 2 weeks than does i just wonder if all those good bucks i was seeeing in bow and muzzleloader season are only moving at night anyway i filled my doe tags so i have meat in the freezer and its not all bad to have 2 buck tags left we still have a lot of hunting time with the christmas hunt and bow season going untill 2-28-11 and with all the shooting you hear in a day on stand my movements would be after dark allso. hunters must get bad bored in the middle of the day and have lots of money to blow on ammo sounds like the ak-47 and ar-15 ,s come to life and one is wanting to shoot more rounds than the other guy.
