You can pretty much sum it up in 3 words wind, heat,& moon the game and fish said kill totals were down 10,000 the first weekend of the season after 17 days of hard hunting i can tell you deer have been few and far between where i hunt (Garland Co) i have seen pictures of some nice deer killed this year but with the acorn crop and rain deer can stay in a small area they dont have to move, the population is higher than ever and i guess it will stay that way untill next year because now that they have heard those guns for 2 weeks they are in night mode  BangHead

I think you hit the nail on the head. I saw some good bucks during bow season, but gun season has been tough this year. I hadn't heard the numbers being down that much; that's pretty substantial. But on a positive not, maybe it will be a really good late bow season.

Kevin thats what i am hoping for i will be hunting the weekends untill gun season closes and have taken my last 3 days of vacation for the christmas hunt i am hoping cold weather will dominate by then, the acorns on the ground will sour ,and the winds will subside  it has been very windy this year and from what i have seen deer simply dont like to move in the wind plus you have to depend on site because you cant hear them coming,by the way the info about the deer harvest being down on opening weekend was from Steve(Wildman) Wilson AG&F on (CBS) KTHV 11 Little Rock icon_rendeer
