So here is my "scheme". If feeders scare big bucks, and pipes require constant feeding, as does pouring on the ground, then... I am planning to hang a feeder high in a tree. I figure if a deer don't see me up in a tree it won't see the feeder. I plan to use a plastic drum with a timed spreader, block and tackle and a long rope. Now I plan to camo it up pretty good and conceal it as good as I can. The way I got it figured, all the deer is going to know is little golden nugets fall from the tree.

I hope to elmininate unessasary trips to the woods, not because I don't want to go, but because the less stomping around in the deers neighborhood the better. Just to the stand and back, oooooh silent but deadly. Wink

Probably too much figuring, not enough hunting. Let me know what ya'll think.

I've seen feeders used like that in bear and hog country. Personally I don't think they are scared by the sound, I think they are attracted to it. My feeder only goes off at dawn, but if I go to the feeder in the middle of the day or afternoon and set it off, deer will show up in 15 to 30 minutes like I rang the dinner bell.

Yeah I was talking to a guy this weekend and he told me the same thing. He thinks  the timed feeder helps pattern the deer. I want to conceal the feeder and see what happens.

I'd like to make something that sounds like the feeder going off and go to another stand and use it just to see if the deer would come to the sound.
