Pretty sure I caught a tresspasser over the weekend. I got to the woods Saturday morning because I decided to sleep in. Probably about 9:30 am and as I entered the right-away almost to my stand, I could see somebody crossing the fence about 150 yards away. Unless he was just passing through, I'm pretty much guaranteeing he was sitting in my stand. Pretty much pissed me off and no telling how many times he has been sitting there since I don't hunt that same stand all the time. Don't know anybody around my land that hunts. it's all private so unless they gave somebody permission and he stumbled over. Just wondering if any of you guys have ever caught somebody on your land and how did you handle it.

This may be an urban legend, but it was told to me by a good friend and he said it was his uncle who did it. His uncle knew that someone had been sitting in his stand so he put a dummy dressed in hunting clothes and orange in the stand. He knew where the tresspasser was coming in so he hid around in that area. When the guy entered he played like his friend and they started walking in. Then when they were close enough to see the stand his uncle looked at it and said, "That SOB is in my stand again! I'll take care of this!" He raised his gun and shot the dummy out of the stand. The guy never came back. You may try to put a dummy in your stand, or maybe an orange vest and hat, or call the warden. If you try to pull off the story... please get it on video.

hahaha, that is hilarious. I caught somebody with another stand next to mine on MY lease a couple of years ago. I left him a note on his stand, with a map, circling his location and I put my boundary on it. I also stated if he was reading the note, his stand was still there. But that would not be the case in the next 24 hours.

I had a 2x4 stand on public land. I came to it to hunt one morning to find it torn apart like a zipper with the platform still hanging in the tree. About 20 yards away was a new metal stand locked to a tree. I wrote the person a love note and mentioned how many laws they broke (cutting trees down, no name, no number, etc.), put it in a zip lock, fastened it to a rung of the ladder, waited two weeks for it to be moved, and then turned them in to the AGFC. If you ever come across one of my stands on public land.. please just hunt from it. It's public land... I expect that. To put another stand up next to it or damage it is ridiculous. By the way, that guy had 3 stands in that area so my friends and I made it a point to pee on the legs of them every time we went out. I know it's unsportsmanlike, but we didn't start it.

I was sitting in a ground blind with my friend on his property during muzzleloading season a few years ago and we saw a guy and his son walk out of the woods and into the field.  We got out and questioned them.  They were squirrel hunting on the property next to my friend's property and claimed they didn't realize they had wandered off of it and onto someone else's property.  Even though they were just squirrel hunting, they were still required to wear hunter orange, which they weren't.  The whole situation kind of ruined our hunt and we ended up escorting them off of the property.
