Nice buck congrats looks like the old boy was tearing up some trees, the bucks are starting to chase does i  seen that twice Saturday afternoon got a long shot at one of them with no luck( like mpoor said i feel a change coming) on the 12th when the .270 comes out those long muzzleloader shots will be made with much more confidence the only thing that bothers me is i have never seen an acorn crop like this years the deer do not have to move to eat so i just have to hope they keep on those does and i will get another chance.

Nice! Looks like he was definitely doing a lot of rubbing, unless that is just rope twine or something on there.

Thanks guys! That isn't rope twine nor cedar. It is more like a small oak or something.  I didn't find any of his rubs, but I am pretty sure I was sitting about 20 yards from his scrape. Saturday morning when I went out to the spot  picked because of a rubs found Friday. There was a fresh scrape about 20 yards from the 2 I found Friday. Didn't have any luck Saturday and my husband had found a spot that he wanted to hunt Sunday morning. It was several miles from there and we had agreed to go there. Well, as luck would have it, he decided that I would probably get something up where I found all of the scrapes, so hung around camp. I got to the spot just about 7:30, after having a doe blow about 100 yards from there. When I got to the scrape area, there was another fresh scrape about 2 feet from the other one. I put out some doe in heat scent wicks and sat about 20 yards from the scrapes. I had one of the scent wicks hanging about 10 feet from where I was sitting in a bit of bushes. I sat for about 30 minutes then used a few doe bleats and some buck grunts. I only did this a couple of times then didn't touch the calls again. About 35-40 minutes later I hear hubby coming down with the atv and I knew he wasn't coming up where I was at. After I could no longer hear the 4-wheeler, I heard the unmistakeable sound of footsteps coming down the hill. I saw him when he came down the trail on the opposite side of the fallen pine tree and knew he was a legal buck. I got ready for the shot as he came out in the open. Made a good shot and he ran 25 yards and crashed. He had went back off the trail about 15 yards from where I was sitting and there was no blood any where. I found him and the blood trail start about 20 feet from where he crashed.
Ny husband sent me a text at the same time I was typing one to send to him and he said that his ML cost him a good deer. The hammer wouldn't catch and there was a buck standing in the trail he was on. He just bought the ML online and guess it wasn't new out of the box like advertised. He brought the 4-wheeler up to where I was and we got the buck out.
We had a hard week of hunting, saw a lot, but they wasn't offering good shots. Like buckaroo said, lots and lots of acorns. We had a good crop last year, and where we hunted last year, I saw 2 squirrels the entire 2 months we were camped. This year I saw enough to fill the limit in one morning.
