Before the rain the water hole was a lock but now the deep woods looks better to me but at 4:30 a.m. today i seen a huge 10 point in the middle of Benton so the back yard may be the place to go .

Have never had great luck hunting watering holes, even when it's been dry. Not sure why.

Did shoot a doe one time when I was a kid while she was getting a drink. It was a bad shot and paralyzed her in the edge of the water. Was messing with me to sit there and watch her (try to) drown, so got down and cut her throat. Being young and not knowing what the hell I was doing, I kept trying to cut it too high, so even that didn't work and just prolonged everything. Pretty shitty experience.

Anyway, back on topic, I would definitely hit the timber because if it is really thick, you know there are going to be some acorns around somewhere.
