Kevin! its the rut! I know we have a full moon, warm weather, wind, and the ground is carpeted with acorns, but its the RUT. That wild time of year when all bets are off, patterns are busted, nocternal goes to day time, food is secondary, and your life can change in an instant. It may not be ideal but if your a deer hunter this is what we have been waiting for since last veterans day. I know I will be doing a couple of all day sits to see if my life gets changed. Buck up "king of the wild frontier"! HOOORAAAAAAAH headbang wav sunny hello2

Definitely didn't say I wasn't going, just that I'm not looking forward to the warmth and winds. I've seen bucks chasing for 3 weeks, missed a good buck and passed on a few small bucks. I'll be out there, but a man can still dream about a perfect opening weekend.

yeh wont be able to hang them long thats for sure. kill and clean early so tha meat doesnt go bad on ya. don't mind the acorns i just bury myself up in the woods around some big white oaks. wind isnt fun for hearing but just play the direction and it can make or break the hole day.

Even though there are a lot of acorns, I'm actually going to sit over a field opening morning just to try to catch a buck chasing into open space. Sit in the same stand almost every year and can't remember the last time I came up empty on seeing a buck.

I've told at least a hundred people that I can't remember an opening weekend that I didn't sweat at least once.

My brother n law arrowed a monster this evening. I'll post pics when I get them. Ahhh rut. Kevin I wasnt dogging you I was trying to get us all pumped. I'm going to sit a while before work in the morning. I have not killed a deer yet dispite getting to hunt some great places. BTW brother n law killed that buck near his house and had never seen it before.

I am pumped brother, no doubt about that. I think I just still have a wind complex from living in Wyoming for a year angry5

Look forward to seeing pics of that monster. Hopefully we will all have one to match after this weekend. icon_thumright

By the way, I saw the "limping deer" for the first time this morning, he was slipping up a grassey draw at 98 yds. (I ranged him Sloughboy). I have only seen him on gamecam until today. If he makes the same mistake in the morning, I'll be waiting for him. The "dance" continues. Here is a picture of him from last year.
