Had a once in a lifetime encounter this weekend on the youth hunt. Here is inside the stand.

I woke my son up and he shot the doe. After about 30 I left him in the stand and went to find the deer. When I found it the 10 point was with her. This pic is when I found the deer. Keep in mind that I have time to pull my phone out of my pocket and that this is a camera on a phone with no zoom.

This is him making a circle around me. You can see my 4 wheeler in the background for all of you scared of parking too close.

This is where it got a little wacky. At this point he stopped facing me so I started walking toward him holding my phone up taking pics. After a few steps he started coming at me and stopped about 20 feet short. I don't know what happened to my phone cause I thought I got several pics as he came toward me, but when I looked in the phone they weren't there.

This is him seemingly running away after the charge, but he didn't. I went back to the stand and watched him for another hour and a half. A spike came out and ate for a bit, but as soon as it went toward the dead doe the 10 point chased clear out of the field grunting. When it got dark we got down and I took my son to see his deer. We got to it and guess who was there? I grabbed my son up and got the hell away from it. We drove the ranger right up to pick up the doe and I was watching my back the whole time. Really cool. The video would have made millions.

Great pics!!!

That 10-point must have been in a real rut (no pun intended, well maybe...) to be "protecting" the dead doe. Cheesy

So was your boy still asleep during all of this? Heck of a time for a cat nap, lol. He probably would have been hooked on hunting for life after seeing antics like that.

He watched the whole thing unfold from the stand. I told him to stay in the stand and I was going to look for his deer. When I got back to the stand he said, "Daddy, what were you doing with that deer?"
