Gun season is just around the corner, what is everybody shooting this year? Old trusty or a new toy?
Got the 30.06 again this year for me. Almost bought a 7mm mag a while back but thought it was overkill

I have not decided weather to continue to become aquainted with my lever action browning 22-250 with and 65 grain bullet or tote the old trusty marlin 30-30, which is the best whitetail gun ever made. Not fancy, but perfect for mountain whitetails. Killed my very first deer with it 25 years ago.

Weatherby 30.06 ... but seriously thinking about an upgrade to a 7mag too DeerSlayer. Need it out West here with these wide open spaces.

Kevin, I have the 7 mag, love the gun for mule deer and elk, but where I live 200 yds is a long shot. Too much gun for me here, but in the wide open country Remington 700 7mm mag is what I carry. Tough to beat a 30-06 though.

Yeah if I end up staying out here for a while, I'm going to upgrade for sure. I agree though, 30.06 is a great gun though.

If I can find some cheap enough sabot slugs I will probably put the slug barrel back on my Mossberg 835 with the dual-comb stock. I really need to invest in deer rifle. I really want to get a .308.

.308 is a great deer rifle too. My dad has used one for as long as I can remember.

.30-06 for me. Definitely my favorite deer caliber. Would be glad to be shooting .308, .303, .280, .270, 7mm Mauser.

Next weekend I'll be using my newly purchased (in April) Marlin 1894C in .357 mag. For the close ranges found in my densely wooded hubnting area it should be just fine. GH1

I shoot a Remington 700 APR in 300 Weatherby Mag. toped with a Leupold VX-III 4.5-14x50 Long Range. Too much gun? Not if you are shooting a long way and it's a good out west rifle.
