My DVR is filled with hunting and fishing shows from the Sportsmen and Outdoor channels. I was going through some of them last night, and then realized, there really is only one that I actually gave a damn about.

It's called fly fisherman. Anybody ever watched it? http://www.flyfisherman.com/

More than just showing two people catching fish, this guy and gal show me HOW to catch them. Pretty much the entire show is talking about casting techniques, reading the water, etc, and very little shows them fishing. Oddly, I like it. Instead of just some old dude sitting there fishing, I'm getting facts and tips I can take out onto the river.

Anybody have any other favorites I should check out?

I always liked "The best and worst of Tred Barta" and "The hunt for big fish" with Larry Dahlberg. I thought "The Flyway Highway" was good, but I haven't seen it in a while. Most of the over-the-shoulder bow hunting shows bore the hell out of me though.

let deer out of cage. act surprised when deer walks out on your high-dollar ranch. shoot deer. act excited. talk about deer. sit around lodge talk some more about the deer.

That is pretty much 95% of all hunting shows on TV.

you forgot: [tree stand plug] let deer out of cage. [hearing device plug] act surprised when deer walks out on your high-dollar ranch [range finder plug]. shoot deer [gun plug]. act excited [safety system plug]. renactment of tracking deer [with some stupid flashlight plug]. talk about deer and how it couldn't be done without all this BS. sit around (unaffordable) lodge talk some more about the deer [plug for everything but the tree you were on].

If someone wants a hunting video idea... I think it would be funny if someone were to edit a show to point out all of the product plugs. Just put in a cha-ching sound everytime a product is mentioned and have a dollar amount shown above the product for a couple of seconds.
