What do you all plant for sping food plots? I just got my soil sample results back and it's going to take alot of lime because of all the cedar and pine that was in the area.

In my spring plots I like a variation. Clover is always a good choice cause it grows easy , has high amount of protein , and it also puts nitrogen back in your soil. I like to mix my legumes ; for one acre I mix 4lbs of ledino white clover, 6lbs of crimson red clover , and about 2lbs of chickory. The deer will hammer the chickory from the get go , then they will work over the clovers a little later(May-June). I use plots around 3 or 4 acres in the spring. The last few years I have broadcast a strip about 20 X 100 yards of grain sorghum (milo) and by mid Sept. through mid October they will hammer the milo tops. I think this type plot gives the deer good nutrition and with the milo it gives you a good chance at a P&Y in the early bow season. Good luck with your plot!!

Wish I had equipment at my disposal. I have the perfect places for plots, but doing it the hard way has kept me from doing them. Been thinking about getting a plot master, but they just aren't givin those things away.
