This will be my first ever post anywhere so here goes.I am a Texan hunter  tired of the lease culture in my state. While traveling through western Ark,tye idea just hit me"I love this place"So if anyone would like to give some friendly advice I would appreciate it.Some questions .. Are wma's over crowded.I'm retired so I normally hunt weekdays. Are hunting clubs a good way to go?I hunt deer , dove  squirrel ,hogs  turkey.Anybody in Southwind? (that would be kind of pricey for me but just curious.I have been a western hunter(arizona ) also so I really prefer a little  less "blind hunting" and more still hunting where practical or at least pop up blindsI did not mean to ramble.Anyway Thanks for any words of wisdom.Congratulations on having a beautuful state

i moved it over to the general forum, i figured you would get a better response.

Short answer is yes WMAs are crowded. There are alot of limitations on WMAs that are not on private land, such as if you are into putting corn out.

I would say for the type of hunting you do a lease would be the ideal way to go, some deer camps are fairly cheap and you have free reign on the land, you can put in food plots, manage the herd and so on.

Hope that helps out, i am sure others will chime in too

I am definitely a fan of private clubs as well.  I used to hunt WMA’s and had too many hunts ruined by inconsiderate people to count.  When your hunting time is limited, that is simply unacceptable.  I would recommend that you visit with prospective club members before committing to make sure their hunting style fits yours.  It took several years before I found a group that I was completely “aligned” with.  Some things to look out for are dog hunting, antler restrictions or lack thereof, shared or private stands, etc.  AR is a great place to hunt…good luck!
