Has anybody ever eaten pronghorn? I know it is supposed to have a really gamey taste but I'm wondering how it would be for jerky? Out here in Wyoming now and these things are all over the place.

Nope.  Have you talked with the locals?  They probably have lotsa recipes.  Kinda like South Arkansas and coon recipes. Tongue

I had some pronghorn and beef sausages that were awesome. I mean AWESOME! I wanted to go to Wyoming this year and kill one, but the day I checked on getting a tag was the day after the deadline.

I have heard soaking them in milk overnight takes the gamey taste almost completely out.

ArkansasSloughboy, they have a screwy system up here. They make it look like you have to apply for a draw and all this, but you don't for most game. You can buy a non-resident antelope, deer and elk online right now if you want.

It's $272.00 for a non-resident antelope. I live right on the outskirts of Medicine Bow NF and these things walk up to my house. They are like cattle.

It may have been Montana that I tried to apply for, but Wyoming sounds just as good. What site do you go to to get the permits?

Freaking terrible website. Not representative of such a beautiful state.

Just spice the hell out of the pronghorn. That milk idea is probably a good one too.

I told my wife that I was going to Wyoming at the end of September or early October to kill a goat and she said okay. I've been trying to recruit my buddies. I'm still a little undecided, but you know how it is with your wife's permission... better use it when you can.

I had this nice little buck in my yard yesterday evening.

Thinking about opening up my little cabin for lodging. I'll could offer a bed, guaranteed pronghorn, some damn good trout fishing and even a couple of breakfasts for a good rate.

I could be your first customer. I don't need a big trophy. I just want some meat and a little adventure.

The meat is definitely here. I've counted as many as 75 in the field behind my house so far. Usually there will be anywhere from 20 to 40 consistently though.
