Was wondering if I could get some help finding a place to spring turkey hunt on public land in NW Arkansas? Also willing to do some chores to trade for hunt time on private land. New to turkey hunting but can't wait. Thanks for any help

First off, welcome to the forum.

Second, man Northwest Arkansas is a tough place to hunt turkeys. Benton and Washington counties are consistently the lowest ranked for turkey output in the entire state. I'm not sure if the number of turkeys checked in those counties gets out of the teens, literally.

Turkey season is not even open in Wedington WMA, but I bet you could find some birds in the Ozark National Forest.

prob. depends on how far you are willing to drive. like Kevin said, Ozark NF might be your closest bet.

I'd also look into Izard County and Stone County. icon_thumright

I drive 35 to 40 miles now to hunt deer, so don't mind driving if the action is good. I hunt on a little 35 acre parcel in Madison past Combs, so if there's somewhere close to that it would be great.

I'm not an expert on turkey, or anything else I guess, but I have been told the Ouachita National Forest used to be pretty good. Down around Mena, and I have seen turkey on HWY 7 north of Hot Springs. I know one thing though, you they are all in the woods. Finding them is half the fun!
