Title: Conservation Order Post by: ArkansasSloughboy on February 16, 2010, 08:27:18 AM Is anyone hunting the snow goose Conservation Order? This past weekend I put together an electronic call. I bought a sony cd player in the automotive section of Wally World for $80. It puts out 52 watts on each of 4 channels. My wife is now mad that my hunting equipment has a better stereo than her car. I was surprised at what I got for that price. I then went to Radio Shack and purchased two 100 watt powerhorn speakers ($36.95 each), two 50 watt powerhorns ($26.95 each), and two 100 foot rolls of 18 gauge speaker wire ($19.99 each). I already had a small peice of plywood and a small dry box to mount the stereo in, as well as various wire connectors, short peices of power and ground wire, electrical tape, and a deep cycle 12 volt battery. First I cut the plywood to fit inside the top of the box and then cut a hole out to slide the stereo in and mounted it. I then cut a small hole in the side of the box near the top to run out the wires so that it can sit in 6 or 8 inches of water and stay dry. I think it would be better if one could find some sort of female jacks (like RCAs) to mount on the exterior of the box, but I was on a budget and for some reason nontypical electrical connectors aren't easy to find. Then I just followed the stereo hook up instructions and connected the four speakers with 50 feet of wire each. Then the power and ground wires with about 2 or 3 feet of wire to go to my battery. It was very simple and I am not electronically inclined so I was amazed when I hooked it up to the battery, threw in ACDC Live and blew my eardrums out. Since it worked... I ordered a snow goose cd. Looking on the internet there were several to choose from. I went with one from Performance Calls which boasted real goose recordings and no recordings of hunters calling. It was a little more costly at $29.95 than the others, but I'm a waterfowler that wants to kill geese so I'm sure everyone can understand.
After the cd comes in... my snow goose arsenal will include: an electronic call, 200 windsocks, a ghillie suit, a ground blind, and an ATV. I only have a couple of places to use this stuff and I'm sure I will burn them out quickly. What I need is: Someone who has permission to hunt where the geese are and more decoys. If anyone has these items please let me know so we can whack 'em. I wish I had a place to hunt, that would make an amazing video.

Title: Re: Conservation Order Post by: Kevin on February 17, 2010, 02:23:03 PM If you want to put them in this thread, just look at the bottom left corner of where you are typing your message and click the plus sign net to "Additional Options." You will then see a place to attach photos.
If you want to put them in the main photo gallery, just go to the main gallery page, click the middle folder at the top that says "Upload Photos" then click "add an item to this gallery" Title: Re: Conservation Order Post by: jmathisb on February 17, 2010, 04:33:03 PM Thanks for that useful bit of info, well, here are the pics then.

Can I ask the general area you are hunting? I don't really goose hunt, just curious as to how you are getting on so many. Title: Re: Conservation Order Post by: jmathisb on February 19, 2010, 02:19:00 PM That setup took place down past Pine Bluff a little bit.

Title: Re: Conservation Order Post by: ArkansasSloughboy on February 24, 2010, 08:57:50 AM Yeah. I couldn't get them on here so Ducktape did it for me. I used it this last weekend. It sounds great and is very loud. I will be using ear plugs next time because I kept hearing geese for about 2 days after the hunt.
Title: Re: Conservation Order Post by: Kevin on February 24, 2010, 09:16:21 AM I'm sure it sounds good. Certainly passes the eye test.
